“Laboratory tests offered include; TB microscopy screening, biochemistry tests specifically kidney/liver function tests, immune monitoring tests (CD4/CD3), HIV-PCR, TB-PCR and drug resistance testing. EDARP follows the Kenya national Antiretroviral treatment guidelines as recommended by the National Aids and STI Control Programme (NASCOP) in providing laboratory services to its clients.
The laboratory collaborates with the TB Central Reference Laboratory (TB-CRL) in screening of TB through culture method. The collaboration with KEMRI HIV-P3 laboratory facilitates early infant HIV diagnosis to all infants born from HIV positive mothers under EDARP care and treatment.
The laboratory is enrolled and participates in external quality assurance programs. These programs include; Human Quality Assessment Services (HUQAS), Randox International Quality Assessment Service (RIQAS), and Quality Assurance System International (QASI).
All laboratory tests offered are free to all clients accessing care and treatment under Eastern Deanery Aids Relief Program. Laboratory services are available from Monday to Friday with exception of public holidays.”
