The advent of antiretroviral therapy for HIV infection has significantly increase both life expectancy and the quality of life for adults and children living with HIV. Access to these quality medications as well as competent and trained clinical staff is critical for the effective and compassionate support for patients living with HIV. Additionally, every patient has emotional, social and spiritual aspects in their life that can impact their health and wellbeing.
After each patient receives a comprehensive physical exam and history, the EDARP Social Work department ensures that each patient’s unique emotional, social and spiritual needs are assessed and addressed in a wholistic bio-psycho-social-spiritual model of care and support. Social Workers and counselors at each EDARP site work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to ensure this wholistic and patient-centered approach to care.
