In the early 1990s, HIV/AIDS was devastating communities across Nairobi's eastern slums. Healthcare was scarce, stigma was high, and families were losing hope. We believed then, as we do now, that everyone deserves access to quality healthcare delivered with dignity and compassion.
We pioneered a unique community-based approach that combines medical excellence with spiritual care. Our network of 1,500+ Community Health Promoters doesn't just deliver healthcare – they build trust, understanding, and lasting relationships that transform communities.
Today, we operate 11 comprehensive healthcare facilities serving nearly 3 million people across five sub-counties. From HIV/AIDS and TB care to maternal health and laboratory services, we provide holistic care that addresses physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
In 1993, Maryknoll Father Edward Phillips and Kenyan Nurse Mrs. Alice Njoroge saw beyond the crisis. Where others saw despair, they envisioned a community-led solution. Starting with just one clinic and a commitment to serve with Christ-like compassion, they laid the foundation for what EDARP would become.
